After two years in both the iOS and Android app stores, the Jury Duty app has garnered nearly 7000 votes on various political issues. I've decided to pull the app at this point, but wanted to share some of the more interesting results. Let's take a look!

Total Questions: 57

User Submitted Questions: 76 (These were moderated; obviously many were thrown out. Reasons for rejection included duplicate questions and questions that were not relevant.)

Interesting Results

People overwhelmingly agreed that Casey Anthony was guilty by a 3 to 1 ratio.

Legalization of marijuana passed with 53% of the vote.

Less than 33% of users had even heard of the Fair Tax plan.

A whopping 8 people feel the government makes good use of the public's tax dollars.

86% of voters believe that cutting government spending is the key to balancing the budget as opposed to raising taxes...

HOWEVER

51% believe that the US does not need to cut military spending.

note: The US spends over 400% more than the next closest nation on military projects. The US could cut military spending by $500,000,000 and still be the world's largest military spender.

The majority of voters favor a student loan bailout.

The majority of voters favor raising taxes to make college free.

The majority of voters favor increasing the NASA budget.

The majority of voters believe churches should remain tax exempt.

note: Religious tax exemptions cost tax payers an estimated $71,000,000 per year

The majority of voters do not want to legalize prostitution.

note: It is estimated that legalizing prostitution would provide an extra $10,000,000 to $20,000,000 in tax revenue per year and make it a safer practice.

Other Results

People generally felt the Occupy Wall Street movement was not a good idea (3:2)

54% of voters support gay marriage

There was a 50/50 split on whether or not the US needs stricter gun laws.

60% of voters believe the US should keep using the death penalty.

3 out of 4 voters feel the average US police force is corrupt in some way.

60% of voters believe the US should have harsher penalties for illegal immigrants.

50% of voters believe illegal immigrants should be deported.
